È stabile chi, avendo deciso di percorrere il cammino della luce, mantiene il proprio orientamento divino qualunque cosa accada. Non appena ha compreso una verità e l'ha accettata nel proprio cuore e nella propria anima, egli non solo non permette mai che quella verità si cancelli, ma inoltre ne fa una regola di vita, un programma. La stabilità è una qualità rarissima: per coloro che hanno abbracciato la vita spirituale, la difficoltà maggiore non è tanto accedere a un livello di coscienza più elevato, ma piuttosto mantenervisi. Un giorno riportano una vittoria, ma l'indomani, essendo cambiate le condizioni esterne ointeriori, essi sono più negligenti, hanno la tendenza a prendere un'altra direzione e si smarriscono.
In realtà, mantenersi in alto definitivamente e senza inciampare è pressoché impossibile. Per questa ragione la stabilità è il fine ultimo dell'Iniziazione, il momento in cui il discepolo può finalmente dire, come lo ierofante dell'antico Egitto: «Io sono stabile, figlio di stabile, concepito e generato nel territorio della stabilità»."

Die Beständigkeit ist eine sehr seltene Eigenschaft. Für alle, die das spirituelle Leben gewählt haben, besteht die größte Schwierigkeit nicht so sehr darin, auf eine höhere Bewusstseinsebene zu gelangen, sondern vielmehr darin, sich dort zu halten. An einem Tag tragen sie einen Sieg davon, aber am nächsten Tag haben sich die äußeren Bedingungen geändert, und sie sind nachlässiger, sie neigen dazu, eine andere Richtung zu wählen und sich zu verirren.In Wirklichkeit ist es fast unmöglich, sich endgültig und ohne zu schwanken auf diesen Höhen zu halten. Deswegen ist die Beständigkeit das äußerste Ziel der Einweihung, es ist jener Augenblick, in dem der Schüler endlich, wie der Hierophant im alten Ägypten, sagen kann: »Ich bin beständig, Sohn des Beständigen, empfangen und gezeugt im Territorium der Beständigkeit.«"
