"Capita che chi è stato criticato o insultato esclami: «Cosa non ho dovuto ingoiare! Ciò mi ha fatto ammalare!». Ci sono parole che effettivamente possono essere percepite come veri veleni, ma perché lasciarle entrare dentro di sé?

Nessuna parola deve farvi perdere la vostra pace e la vostra luce. Direte che è impossibile non essere turbati o feriti da certe riflessioni malevole... Quando qualcuno vi parla, è ovvio che voi sentite, ma interiormente potete benissimo chiudervi. Niente vi obbliga ad assorbire veleni. Fate dunque attenzione a impedire che quei veleni penetrino in voi; e se non ci siete riusciti, sforzatevi immediatamente di neutralizzarli per renderli assimilabili. Prendete come modello gli alberi.
Quando si porta loro del letame, cosa fanno? Si mettono al lavoro, operando tutte le trasformazioni di cui possiedono il segreto, e in cambio di ciò che di ripugnante e maleodorante hanno ricevuto, danno frutti belli, profumati e saporiti. "

"When people are criticized or insulted they might exclaim, 'I couldn't believe my ears! It made me sick.' There are words that can indeed be perceived as real poisons, but why let them enter you?
No words must make you lose your peace and light. You may say it is impossible not to be disturbed or hurt by certain negative remarks. When someone speaks to you, obviously you hear them; but inwardly you could very easily shut their words out. You don't have to take poisons in. So take care to prevent them from entering you; and if you were not able to, immediately try to neutralize them to make them easy to absorb. Take the example of a tree. What does it do when you put manure around its base? It carries out all the necessary secret transformations it knows, and in exchange for the disgusting and foul-smelling matter it receives, it produces beautiful, fragrant and delicious fruit. "

"Il arrive que celui qui a été critiqué, insulté, s’exclame : « Qu’est-ce que j’ai dû avaler !  Ça m’a rendu malade. » Il y a des paroles qui peuvent en effet être ressenties comme de véritables poisons, mais pourquoi les laisser pénétrer en soi ?
Aucune parole ne doit vous faire perdre votre paix, votre lumière. Vous direz qu’il est impossible de ne pas être troublé, blessé par certaines réflexions malveillantes… Quand on vous parle, évidemment vous entendez ; mais intérieurement vous pouvez très bien vous fermer. Rien ne vous oblige à absorber des poisons. Veillez donc à les empêcher de pénétrer en vous ; et si vous n’avez pas pu, efforcez-vous aussitôt de les neutraliser pour les rendre assimilables. Prenez modèle sur les arbres. Quand on leur apporte du fumier, que font-ils ? Ils se mettent au travail en opérant toutes les transformations dont ils ont le secret, et ils donnent en échange de ce qu’ils ont reçu de répugnant, de malodorant, des fruits beaux, parfumés et savoureux. "

"Es kommt vor, dass jemand, der kritisiert oder beleidigt wurde, ruft: »Was habe ich da nur schlucken müssen! Das hat mich ganz krank gemacht.« Es gibt tatsächlich Worte, die sich wie echtes Gift anfühlen, aber warum sie in sich eindringen lassen?

Nehmt die Bäume als Beispiel. Was tun sie, wenn man ihnen Mist bringt? Sie machen sich an die Arbeit und bewirken alle Verwandlungen, deren Geheimnis sie kennen. Im Austausch gegen das Abstoßende und Übelriechende, das man ihnen gegeben hat, verschenken sie schöne, duftende und schmackhafte Früchte."

Nada os obliga a absorber venenos. Velad pues para impedir que penetren en vosotros; y, si no habéis podido, esforzaos inmediatamente en neutralizarlos para poderlos asimilar. Tomad como modelo los árboles. Cuando les echamos estiércol, ¿qué hacen? Se ponen a trabajar activando todas las transformaciones de las que conocen el secreto y, a cambio de lo que han recibido de repugnante, de maloliente, dan frutos hermosos, perfumados y sabrosos."
