"In tante religioni, Dio è paragonato a un fuoco; ma di questo fuoco non si sa molto, se non che è di una potenza e di un'intensità impossibili da sopportare. È il fuoco del puro Spirito: al suo contatto, tutte le forme si fondono e si annientano. Tutti coloro che hanno ricevuto il bacio di quel fuoco, si sono fusi in lui in un'unica fiamma.

Si è scritto tanto sulle esperienze dei mistici, ma le spiegazioni date erano spesso complicate, mentre in realtà è molto semplice: l'esperienza dei mistici è l'esperienza del fuoco, del fuoco sacro. Un essere che ha acceso quel fuoco in se stesso, lo alimenta ogni giorno gettandogli pezzi della sua natura inferiore, esattamente come si getta della legna nel camino.
Guardate un fuoco ardere: tutti quei legni morti che fino ad allora erano separati, dispersi e inutili, esso li riunisce in una stessa luce, in uno stesso calore, e diventano incandescenti fino a essere identici a lui, al fuoco. Allo stesso modo, è sacrificando la nostra natura inferiore al fuoco dello spirito che conosceremo ciò che è Dio, il Fuoco divino, poiché diventeremo simili a lui."

"Many religions say God is like a fire, but we do not know a great deal about this fire except that it is of an unbearable intensity and power. It is the fire of the pure Spirit, and all forms melt and are destroyed upon contact with it. All those who have been embraced by this fire, have melted into it and merged into one flame.
Much has been written about the experience of mystics and the explanations given are often very complicated. But in fact, they are very simple – the experience of mystics is the experience of fire, of the sacred fire. A person who has lit this divine fire within them feeds it every day by throwing pieces of their lower nature into it, in the same way that we throw wood into the fire. Watch a fire burn: all the pieces of dead wood that were until then separate, dispersed and useless, are united in one and the same light, and one and the same heat, and they become incandescent like the fire itself. Similarly, by offering their lower instincts in sacrifice to the fire of the spirit, mystics know what God is, the divine fire, because they will become like him."

"Dans beaucoup de religions Dieu est comparé à un feu. Mais on ne sait pas grand-chose de ce feu, sauf qu’il est d’une puissance, d’une intensité insoutenable. C’est le feu de l’Esprit pur : à son contact, toutes les formes se fondent et s’anéantissent. Tous ceux qui ont reçu le baiser de ce feu se sont fondus en lui dans une même flamme.
On a beaucoup écrit sur les expériences des mystiques. Mais les explications données étaient souvent compliquées, alors qu’en réalité, c’est très simple : l’expérience des mystiques est l’expérience du feu, du feu sacré. Un être qui a allumé ce feu en lui-même l’alimente chaque jour en lui jetant des morceaux de sa nature inférieure, exactement comme on jette du bois dans la cheminée. Regardez un feu brûler : tous ces morceaux de bois mort qui étaient jusque-là dispersés et inutiles, il les réunit dans une même lumière, une même chaleur, et ils deviennent incandescents jusqu’à être identiques à lui, le feu. De la même façon, en sacrifiant sa nature inférieure au feu de l’esprit, le mystique connaît ce qu’est Dieu, le feu divin, car il devient semblable à lui."

"In vielen Religionen wird Gott mit einem Feuer verglichen, aber man weiß nicht viel von diesem Feuer, außer dass es von einer nicht ertragbaren Stärke und Intensität ist. Es ist das Feuer des reinen Geistes: Im Kontakt mit ihm schmelzen alle Formen und lösen sich auf. Alle, die den Kuss dieses Feuers erhalten haben, sind mit ihm in der gleichen Flamme verschmolzen. 
Man hat viel über die Erfahrung der Mystiker geschrieben. Aber die aufgeführten Erklärungen waren oft kompliziert, wobei es in Wirklichkeit ganz einfach ist: Die Erfahrung der Mystiker ist die Erfahrung des Feuers, des heiligen Feuers. Ein Mensch, der in sich das göttliche Feuer entzündet hat, nährt es, indem er ihm jeden Tag ein Stück seiner niederen Natur hineinwirft, genauso wie man Holz in ein Kaminfeuer wirft. Betrachtet ein brennendes Feuer: Es vereint alle diese bisher verstreuten, nutzlosen und toten Holzstücke in einem gleichen Licht und in derselben Wärme, und sie werden weißglühend bis sie mit ihm, dem Feuer, identisch sind. In gleicher Weise erkennt der Mystiker, was Gott ist, das göttliche Feuer, indem er seine niedere Natur dem Feuer des Geistes opfert, denn er wird ihm ähnlich."
