"Quanti credenti chiedono di ricevere la luce e l’aiuto degli angeli! Ma quando la luce e gli angeli si presentano, loro guardano altrove o sonnecchiano. E poi si lamentano che pregare non porta alcun sostegno. È ovvio: che sostegno potrà mai ricevere chi ha la coscienza addormentata? Non serve a niente rivolgere preghiere al Cielo se prima non si sono sviluppate le facoltà che permetteranno di ricevere le sue risposte e il suo aiuto. Queste facoltà sono innanzitutto l’attenzione e la vigilanza; le si può paragonare a un apparecchio sensibilissimo che avverte che si sarà esauditi. Allora, anziché affaticare il Signore e i Suoi angeli con delle pretese, è preferibile far funzionare quell’apparecchio, che vibrerà al loro avvicinarsi, annunciando così l’arrivo di un messaggero, di una visita. Il vero spiritualista sa che dev’essere sempre pronto. Giorno dopo giorno, cerca di sviluppare i propri apparecchi riceventi, affina la propria sensibilità e, poiché rimane vigile, ha la speranza di non essere assente, sordo o cieco quando il Cielo si aprirà, quando lo Spirito verrà a illuminarlo."

"How many of the faithful ask to receive light and help from the angels only to be found looking elsewhere or dozing when the light and the angels appear? They then complain that praying offers them no support. Indeed, what support can those whose consciousness is slumbering receive? It is useless to pray to heaven if we have not first developed the faculties that will allow us to receive its answers and help. These faculties are foremost attentiveness and vigilance; they can be compared to a highly sensitive device that alerts us when our prayers are about to be answered. So, instead of bothering the Lord and his angels with requests, it is preferable to activate this device which will vibrate at their approach, announcing the arrival of a messenger, a visitor. 
A true spiritualist knows that they must always be ready. Day after day, they seek to develop their receptive devices, they fine-tune their sensitivity, and because they remain vigilant, they hope not to be absent, deaf or blind when heaven opens up, when the Spirit comes to enlighten them."

"Combien de croyants demandent de recevoir la lumière et l’aide des anges ! Mais quand la lumière et les anges se présentent à eux, ils regardent ailleurs, ou ils somnolent. Et ensuite, ils se plaignent de ce que prier ne leur apporte aucun soutien. Évidemment, quel soutien peuvent recevoir ceux dont la conscience est endormie ? Ça ne sert à rien d’adresser des prières au Ciel si on n’a pas d’abord développé les facultés qui permettront de recevoir ses réponses et son aide. Ces facultés, ce sont d’abord l’attention et la vigilance ; on peut les comparer à un appareil très sensible qui avertit que l’on va être exaucé. Alors, au lieu de fatiguer le Seigneur et ses anges avec des réclamations, il est préférable de faire fonctionner cet appareil qui vibrera à leur approche, annonçant l’arrivée d’un messager, d’une visite. 
Le véritable spiritualiste sait qu’il doit toujours être prêt. Jour après jour il cherche à développer ses appareils récepteurs, il affine sa sensibilité, et parce qu’il reste vigilant, il a l’espoir de ne pas être absent, ou sourd, ou aveugle lorsque le Ciel s’ouvrira, lorsque l’Esprit viendra l’éclairer."

"Wie viele Gläubige bitten darum, das Licht und die Hilfe von Engeln zu empfangen! Aber wenn das Licht der Engel bei ihnen erscheint, schauen sie gerade weg oder schlafen. Und danach klagen sie, dass Gebete ihnen keinerlei Unterstützung bieten. Natürlich, welche Unterstützung können die empfangen, deren Bewusstsein eingeschlafen ist? Es nützt nichts, Gebete an den Himmel zu richten, wenn man nicht zuvor Fähigkeiten entwickelt hat, die es ermöglichen, seine Antworten und seine Hilfe zu empfangen. Diese Fähigkeiten sind zuerst die Aufmerksamkeit und die Wachheit; man kann sie mit einem sehr sensiblen Apparat vergleichen, der uns ankündigt, dass wir erhört werden. Anstatt also den Herrn und seine Engel mit Forderungen zu bestürmen, sollte lieber dieser Apparat in Gang gesetzt werden, der bei ihrem Herannahen in Schwingung gerät und so die Ankunft eines Botschafters, eines Besuchers ankündigt.
Der wahre Spiritualist weiß, dass er immer bereit sein muss. Tag für Tag versucht er, seine Empfangsgeräte zu entwickeln, er verfeinert seine Sensibilität, und dank seiner Wachheit besteht die Hoffnung, dass er nicht gerade abwesend, taub oder blind ist, wenn der Himmel sich öffnet, wenn der Geist ihm das Licht bringt."

"¡Cuántos creyentes piden recibir la luz y la ayuda de los ángeles! Pero cuando la luz y los ángeles se presentan a ellos, miran hacia otro lado, o están adormilados. Y después se quejan de que rezar no le aporta ninguna ayuda. Evidentemente, ¿qué ayuda pueden recibir aquellos cuya conciencia está dormida? No sirve de nada dirigir oraciones al Cielo si no hemos desarrollado primero las facultades que permitirán recibir sus respuestas y su ayuda. Esas facultades, son primero la atención y la vigilancia; podemos compararlas a un aparato muy sensible que advierte que nuestro deseo va a ser cumplido. Entonces, en vez de fatigar al Señor y a sus ángeles con reclamaciones, es preferible hacer funcionar este aparato que vibrará según se aproximen, anunciando la llegada de un mensajero, de una visita.
El verdadero espiritualista sabe que debe estar siempre preparado. Día tras día busca desarrollar sus aparatos receptores, afina su sensibilidad y, puesto que permanece vigilante, tiene la esperanza de no estar ausente, o sordo, o ciego cuando el Cielo se abra, cuando el espíritu venga a iluminarle."
